In this month-long continuing handbuilding class, students will learn the techniques and planning required to develop larger sculptural forms. Artist-instructor Margaret Meehan will guide students through designing, constructing, and refining large-scale ceramic forms with an emphasis on structural integrity.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"519\" data-end=\"806\"\u003eWorking primarily with coils and building in parts, demonstrations will cover strong joins, moisture management, and how drying and leather-hard timing affect each stage of construction. Students will learn how this approach allows for more ambitious scale while maintaining control through drying and firing.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-start=\"974\" data-end=\"1135\"\u003eThis condensed month-long course meets once a week for 4 two-hour sessions over 5 weeks (no class September 6 for the Labor Day holiday). Students will spend the duration of the course working on a singular complex sculpture, and the work must not exceed 24” in any direction.
